Cornell Cooperative Extension (ccesuffolk.org) CCE of Suffolk County is a great organization with a good website. They have good sections on agriculture, horticulture and the Master Gardener Program is something to consider for any aspiring gardener.
- Plants for Birds (audubon.org) The National Audubon website is a really good site if you are looking for native plants in your area for birds. It is easy and accurate.
- Home - New York Native Plant Societies - Research Guides at New York Botanicaland Garden (nybg.org) The NYNPS's website covers native plant, books, planting guides, links to local native plant societies and more.
- USDA Plants Database The USDA Plant site lists the names, attributes, and symbols of plants growing in the USA. It is easy to use and covers horticultural plants as well as agricultural and natives.
- The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation The Xerces Society it's an organization dedicated to preserving and protecting habitat for invertebrates. Very good site and an organization worth joining.
- Plants & Natural Resources | Agriculture and Markets (ny.gov) The New York State Department of Ag and Markets information under Plant and Natural Resources section has a great Plant Health section.
- Backyard Conservation | Natural Resources Conservation Service (usda.gov) The USDA NRCS Backyard Conservation Project will give you many ideas on what type of practices that you can do in your yard.
- New York Soil Health - a Cornell-led initiative Soil is the most important part of the plant systems and this is a great site to explore your interests in it.
