What I believe!

It's about passion! It's about doing the right thing! It's about giving back. I have observed and seen the way we treat our landscapes and yards and think it is time that we change the way we do things. You see it all around us as the pollinators are disappearing and as we lose the diversity of birds in our neighborhoods. I want to make a difference by helping you. I can answer questions that you haven't even thought of yet.  I have worked as a landscaper both big and small properties, farmer of flowers, vegetables and animals, was an environmental planner in the local, state and federal governments.  I continue to gain knowledge through additional classes and trainings. All these routes create a well-rounded competent advisor. I am not a landscape designer but provide a unique perspective in garden design. I offer a better alternative that will integrate the soil, plants, climate, weather, sun and water to create a beautiful sustainable yard.

My passion is the environment and the world we live in. It started as a young boy planting vegetables in the back garden and eating the raspberries from the old patch. From there it was landscaping jobs through high school.  I have over 40 years of experience working in the agriculture and horticultural industries I bring many appropriate skills to any job and can answer many of the questions you might have. I have worked for the USDA, Natural Resource Conservation Service planning and designing conservation measure. As part of the New York State Soil Conservation Districts, I worked to create green infrastructure in Nassau County as well as give landowners solid no nonsense guidance on their property issues.  With the New York State Department of Parks in the gardens and greenhouses and ran my own farm growing all types and varieties of flowers and vegetables.  Training and development is important. Training in Soil Advocacy working towards creating regenerative farms and landscapes and classes from USDA Soil Health Summit advance my knowledge in this vital resource. Trainings from Cornell Cooperative Extension on new deceases, plants and techniques are important as are other organizations trainings. "Always learning and always growing" is my moto.
